Requirements of the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for Head of Solutions Development and Delivery.

The SRA’s external environment is fast evolving which has seen in recent months an increased demand upon the SRA and which the SRA has grown accordingly in order to meet. This is one of a number of new roles in the IT Directorate to help the SRA to continue to deliver to a high standard, and to take advantage of the opportunities ahead.

Reporting to the Director of IT, as the Head of Solutions Development and Delivery, you will lead the planning, delivery, and transition to support (BAU) of IT change across the organisation, whilst driving initiatives to optimise, increase efficiency, and enhance quality.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Director of IT and other members of the IT Leadership Team to execute the vision and strategy for our Solutions Development and Delivery function. Your ability to engage and influence senior managers and stakeholders will be key in ensuring that our project portfolio delivers on agreed business objectives. You will be responsible for selecting the most appropriate project management methods—whether plan-driven, iterative, or agile—to meet the unique demands of each project, while maintaining strict control over project processes, change management, risk, and testing.

With budgetary accountability, you will monitor and control resources, revenue, and capital costs, ensuring alignment with portfolio budgets while managing stakeholder expectations. You will oversee the end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring that it is agreed upon and rigorously followed. As a leader, you will provide guidance, mentorship, and foster a positive working environment within your team, role modelling our values and driving continuous improvement in everything we do.
