Authorisations Manager, Bar Training and Pupillage


Requirements of the role

The Authorisations Manager will join the Authorisations Team, Regulatory Standards Department within the Bar Standards Board. The postholder will manage a team responsible for making decisions against the BSB’s Authorisations Framework, focusing on authorisation of Bar training and pupillage providers to train potential barristers and the authorisation of entities and licensed access applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver regulatory decisions on authorisation, re-authorisation and any amendments to regulatory contracts issued in accordance with the BSB’s Authorisation Framework, meeting organisational KPIs and fulfilling expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide management oversight to a team of Regulatory and Senior Regulatory Officers and Regulatory Assistants
  • Developing and maintaining effective operational processes to ensure the successful delivery of authorisations decisions, by the team.
  • Advising and supporting the team in making routine and complex authorisation decisions which are legally sound, consistent and in line with regulations, policies, procedures and KPIs.
  • Supporting the Head of Authorisations in the delivery of the team, departmental and organisation wide business plans, as well as working collaboratively with the other Authorisations Manager, the other departmental teams.
