Requirements of the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and adaptable Strategy Advisor to join us at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) in the Policy, Strategy and Impact team.

This is an exciting opportunity to help ensure that the regulator’s strategies and policies promote a viable, efficient and well-government social housing sector able to deliver and maintain homes of appropriate quality that meet a range of needs. You will be responsible for providing advice to our Board and Executive and will undertake a varied programme of work to develop and maintain the regulator’s strategic direction, assess how effective the regulator’s activities are in meeting its objectives, and ensure that the regulatory framework remains fit for purpose.

Job Description:

As a Strategy Advisor, you will provide expert advice on the regulatory framework to internal and external stakeholders. You will understand, analyse and evaluate the short and long-term impacts of a wide range of policy issues affecting the social housing sector and social housing regulation.

Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for delivering projects and activities within a wider programme of policy, strategy and impact development work. This will aim to ensure that the regulatory framework and our approach to regulation is up to date, delivers the regulator’s objectives and is compliant with statute and other duties.

You will develop and maintain strong links across functional teams within RSH and other key stakeholders to enable the regulator’s objectives to be delivered in a cohesive, collaborative, and joined up way.

Responsibilities:

As the successful candidate, you will have experience of working in a policy formulation or strategy role in either a housing or regulatory environment. You will have experience of evaluating the impact of the current political context on organisational policies and direction, with an appreciation of the challenges of working in a dynamic and uncertain political landscape.

You will also have strong strategic thinking skills and will be able to articulate the different factors which might impact the organisation’s strategy to others in a clear and appropriate way. You will have good research and analytical skills, able to draw on complex information from a wide range of sources to reach evidence-based conclusions and make reasoned recommendations. This includes using evidence to better understand the impact of strategies, policies or other interventions on their intended outcomes.

Along with having excellent communication skills, you will be self-starting with an ability to plan and manage your own workload, as well as managing the input of others to meet deadlines.
