Ofgem
The energy regulator for Great Britain, https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/about-us/working-ofgem
Requirements of the role
Take on a rare opportunity to help shape the future of infrastructure regulation and price controls at the heart of Britain’s transition to a fairer, greener energy system. Ofgem is looking for a Senior Economist to join a newly created function that provides flexible resource to priority infrastructure and price control projects.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero while protecting energy consumers, especially those in vulnerable circumstances.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly formed team working flexibly across major infrastructure policy areas. You’ll lead work on price controls and contribute to the development of impact assessments, whilst collaborating with cross-functional, internal and external teams. You will have the chance to shape new analytical approaches in response to emerging technologies and evolving government policy.
You will take ownership of analytical work packages across major projects, supporting policy development, enhancing decision-making and ensuring that economic analysis is embedded across Ofgem.
We’re looking for individuals with extensive experience in economic analysis, particularly in regulatory or price control environments. Experience in infrastructure policy, energy regulation, or economic modelling is highly desirable. You should also bring excellent communication skills, strong stakeholder engagement abilities and a proven track record of working flexibly across diverse teams and subject areas.
You’ll be part of a vibrant, inclusive analytical profession that supports your development and gives you the flexibility to work across a wide range of impactful projects. We offer a culture where collaboration and diverse perspectives are valued, and where you’ll have access to professional development opportunities, as well as hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package.
We have a critical purpose to drive strategic improvements across our regulatory and operational functions. By joining us, you’ll play a key role in delivering change that supports a fair, innovative, and decarbonised energy system, ensuring better outcomes for consumers and the industry alike.
If you would like to be considered for more than one of the vacancies, please submit a separate application for each position.
