Ofgem
The energy regulator for Great Britain, https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/about-us/working-ofgem
Requirements of the role
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers, and drive economic growth.
Delivery and Schemes is the delivery arm of Ofgem, and within that sits Strategy & Business Operations which is a multi-disciplinary portfolio providing specialised business governance and expertise to ensure the safe and effective operation of Delivery & Schemes. If you choose to be part of our team you can expect plenty of opportunity to develop your knowledge and experience, with the professional support you need to reach your full potential.
Job description
In this role you will work across our environmental schemes when responding to information requests from a variety of sources. You will liaise with colleagues across the organisation to support you in formulating thorough, accurate and timely responses. This could include presenting information to senior colleagues or lawyers so that they can advise and contribute on complex or sensitive matters. Interpreting and applying relevant legislation and regulations such as Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), Subject Access Requests (SAR), Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, Privacy Policies and legal advice will be an important part of your role.
It’s important that you already have excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, ideally supported by knowledge of EIR, SAR and FOI legislation. You should be well-organised so that you can adapt to a shifting workload within a team environment while taking personal initiative for moving things forward to meet regular statutory deadlines. Good communication skills will help to ensure that the responses you prepare are easy to interpret, accessible and use clear language.
