The Internal Communications team’s goal is to engage the FCA workforce to be the best they can be. They work closely with HR and stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert comms advice and delivering insight-led and outcome driven communications to over 5,000 colleagues.

We are excited to introduce a newly created leadership role to drive the FCA’s internal communications strategy. In partnership with the Head of Department and Communications Director, you will lead a recently formed team of 10, building and upskilling the team and delivering a strategic and creative Internal Communications approach.

As a natural relationship builder and trusted advisor, you will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders to influence and engage at all levels. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and develop a proactive, innovative internal communications function, bringing your deep expertise in best practice and supporting the implementation of a new digital strategy to enhance communication and engagement across the organisation.

What will you be doing?

Guide and develop the Internal Communications (IC) function, with line management responsibility for three direct reports. With the team recently expanded, there is a unique opportunity to shape its identity and ethos, introducing best practice and new ways of working
Drive team development and upskilling, supporting individuals and the team to reach their full potential and deliver high-impact internal communications
Champion innovative ways of working, fostering creativity and a campaign mindset to deliver insight-led, multi-channel communications that inform, inspire and engage colleagues across the organisation
Provide strategic counsel and build strong relationships, aligning internal communication strategies with the FCA’s priorities. Offer trusted guidance to senior leaders, including the Chief Executive, Chair and Director of Communications, while actively identifying emerging risks and opportunities
Support high-profile and sensitive communications projects, including crisis response, major announcements and organisational transformation. Act as part of the Comms Senior Management Team, deputising for the Head of Department and representing the team at ExCo, project boards and senior committees
