Senior Financial Analyst

Requirements of the role

This role can be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%.

This role, reporting into the Head of Financial and Economic Modelling, will assist with the development and implementation of ORR’s financial monitoring role under rail reform. It will build on our current financial monitoring role which considers Network Rail’s financial performance and efficiency. This will consider how this might be applied to a wider industry role and any changes that may need to be made. The role will also provide additional support across the wider work of the team on rail economics and finance.

This role is a new permanent position to reflect ORR’s expanded monitoring role but is expected to work with existing staff who undertake existing monitoring and reporting of Network Rail.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities, although not exhaustive, will include:

• Working closely with the Head of Economic and Financial Modelling, take responsibility for aspects of how ORR monitors and reports on whole industry revenues and costs, with a particular focus on GBR
• Liaising with colleagues across your team and other professionals as required
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders in the development of ORR’s monitoring role to ensure that it fits with requirements of rail reform and ORR’s evolving responsibilities.
• Working on aspects of the wider work of the team, as required. This could cover both Network Rail related monitoring and reporting, the monitoring and reporting of other areas of the rail network, or our wider work on rail economics and finance, including funding reviews..

While this role does not currently have line management responsibility, this may change depending on the scope and requirements of ORR’s wider monitoring role.
