In conversation with Dame Glenys Stacey (Chair, Office for Environmental Protection)
On 18th September 2025, UKRN hosted an ‘In conversation with’ event, featuring Dame Glenys Stacey, the Chair of the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP), and facilitated by Jen Bruce, Chair of the UKRN Lawyers Network.
A solicitor by profession, Dame Glenys has a wealth of CEO and regulatory experience, having led the start-up or development of a number of public-sector organisations responsible for legal or regulatory services, including as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Probation, Chief Executive at Animal Health (now part of the Animal and Plant Health Agency), Chair of the Professional Standards Authority and Chief Regulator at Ofqual. Dame Glenys was appointed Dame Commander of the British Empire in the New Year’s honours list in 2016, recognising her services to education. She was appointed Chair-designate of the OEP in December 2020 and appointed Chair on legal creation of the OEP.
We were thrilled to be able to hear from Dame Glenys on her experience in working for the public interest, the work the OEP is doing in the context of the government’s growth agenda, and the future of environmental protection.
