Senior Policy Lead

Ofgem

The energy regulator for Great Britain, https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/about-us/working-ofgem

Requirements of the role

We’re offering a permanent opportunity within our Network Price Controls directorate, joining our Future Frameworks area at an early and formative stage of development. This is a forward-looking area of work focused on how gas and electricity networks will need to adapt in the years ahead, and how regulation must respond to changing technologies, consumer expectations, system risks and network roles.

You’ll have the chance to help shape work from the very beginning, exploring new ideas, challenging existing assumptions and contributing to how future frameworks are designed to remain effective within an increasingly complex and evolving energy system.

Job description

Working across policy, analysis, legal and technical disciplines, you’ll help develop robust options for future regulatory approaches, engaging with senior stakeholders across Ofgem and the wider sector, and helping shape discussions on the future of energy network regulation.

You’ll bring experience of policy development relating to energy networks, price controls or the RIIO framework, alongside relevant policy skills in identifying, analysing and articulating complex problems, as well as developing appropriate solutions. You’ll be comfortable managing the delivery of work from others, interpreting and communicating complex evidence, interdependencies and strategic fit of policies and managing and influencing stakeholders.

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to one of the most forward-looking areas of policy development within Ofgem, helping shape how energy networks are regulated for the next generation. You’ll join a collaborative and inclusive environment where you can apply your expertise to work that is strategically important, highly visible and nationally significant.

We have a critical purpose to ensure the energy system works in the interests of consumers, now and in the future. Join us and help shape the future of energy network regulation.
