Requirements of the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Planning and Architecture.

The SRA’s external environment is fast evolving which has seen in recent months an increased demand upon the SRA and which the SRA has grown accordingly in order to meet. The Head of Planning and Architecture is one of a number of new roles in the IT Directorate to help the SRA to continue to deliver to a high standard, and to take advantage of the opportunities ahead.

 

Reporting to the Director of IT, as the Head of Planning & Architecture, you will manage high-level IT plans using business cases and strategic analyses, ensuring they balance short-term priorities with long-term objectives. Your role involves adapting IT plans to reflect changes in strategy, market dynamics, technology, suppliers, and organisational learning. You will drive technology innovation, provide market insights, and build strong relationships with stakeholders, offering consultancy and thought leadership.

 

You will also be responsible for overseeing architectural blueprints that underpin our business and technology plans. Working with all relevant stakeholders, you will define and find consensus on future state architecture, helping the business understand how technology trade-offs influence strategy. With budgetary accountability, you will track spending against targets and identify opportunities to reduce costs, all while providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to your team, fostering an excellent working environment and promoting our core values.
