The Role

The role provides a focal point for the processing and publication of aviation safety material, in the form of CAA exemptions to legal requirements, decisions on means of compliance to legal requirements and safety directives and notices. Additionally, you lead on the publication of consolidated regulatory material to assist the industry in achieving compliance with regulatory requirements.

Primarily, the role accountabilities sit within 3 core areas, Regulatory Flexibility, Legal & Safety Related Publications & Routine requirements.

 

Core Accountabilities:

  • Process CAA exemptions to legal requirements, ensuring we maintain content integrity and appropriate approvals of the exemption documentation.
  • Direct publication of safety material to the CAA’s website and issuing notifications to industry
  • Ongoing analysis of exemption issues with a view to continuous improvement to inform CAA policy and process of flexibility options.
  • Ensure procedures and processes are managed and maintained.
  • Apply appropriate governance and management of legal and safety related technical publication processes (including general exemptions, CAA decisions on means of compliance, alternative means of compliance, Airworthiness Directives, Emergency Airworthiness Directives, Foreign Emergency Airworthiness Directives and Mandatory Permit Directives), including high-profile public facing documents and other material.
  • Collate comments on proposed Airworthiness Directives.
  • Use of Component Content Management System software to maintain the Aviation Regulation Library.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Training, mentoring and support to policy teams on safety publication processes.
  • Provide accurate and meaningful management information.
  • Support the rulemaking team with administrative activities.
