A time for reflection;

Dr Stephen Bass

It is with real sadness that UKRN share with you the tragic news that our colleague and friend, Dr Stephen Bass, has passed away.

Steve worked at UKRN for the past two and half years, leaving us at the end of February 2024 to take up an exciting position as a Head of Regulatory Policy and Performance, with National Grid.

Steve was an integral part of the UKRN team and was responsible for driving and coordinating many of our key networks, as well as overseeing the launch of our latest 3 year work strategy.

We were all delighted that Steve was able to join us again once more in March, when we launched the strategy and celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Westminster.

Steve was always incredibly kind, warm, family centric and a great colleague. We will remember fondly his passion for the environment and his hopes of making the world a better place through his work in regulation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Kathy, and his young family at this incredibly difficult time.
