Webinar: The role of regulators in supporting sustainable economic growth
In November 2023 the UK Government opened a consultation on “Smarter Regulation: Regulating for Growth,” seeking to more clearly define and build on the role of regulators in promoting economic growth across the country.
As the consultation states “Economic growth delivers better outcomes for all of society: it helps to address the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis, ensure businesses continue to start, grow and thrive and continue the UK’s role as a world leader.”
Successfully supporting economic growth of course will require regulators to collaborate ever more closely with organisations across the sectors.
With this in mind UKRN are delighted to once again partner with the Whitehall & Industry Group (WIG) for this expert panel webinar.
Tune in live to hear expert insights and share your thoughts on topics including:
- The implications of defining economic growth as ‘sustainable’, and what this will mean in practise for regulators across different industries
- How regulators can work with key stakeholders within their remits, to effectively balance the growth duty with other statutory duties or objectives
- How expanding the growth duty to more regulators could enable enhanced cross-sector collaboration and long-term thinking to address barriers to growth
