The Role
- Notifying both Civilian and Military Unusual Aerial Activities (UAA) to the wider aviation community, when needed.
- To provide support to Sponsors to enable integration of complex airspace activities into UK airspace.
- Coordinating with various stakeholders
- To provide support for the integration of Remotely Piloted Air Systems into UK Airspace
- To provide oversight of Special Flight Notification process
- To support Royal Flight procedures, including the establishment of Controlled Airspace, Royal Low-Level Corridors, and support ORA in the establishment of Restricted Airspace to facilitate Royal Flights
- Issuing permission and Exemptions from the ANO article 163 for the release of balloons
- To provide regulatory and policy oversight of UK airspace management arrangements
- To develop, establish and implement strategies and policies for the safe and efficient operation of UK airspace
- To support the SARG Airspace responsibilities for the establishment of emergency restrictions of flying
- To perform the role of Project Officer in respect of the regulatory approval of temporary airspace change proposals in accordance with the Airspace Charter.
- To undertake additional tasks as allocated by the Principal Airspace Regulators for Airspace Utilisation and/or Manager Airspace Regulation.
