Requirements of the role

The Role

The General Aviation Airworthiness Team delivers regulatory oversight of the airworthiness of this fleet including balloons, sailplanes, gyrocopters, light aircraft (non-Complex aeroplanes) and helicopters (non-complex). Additionally, the team is also responsible for the oversight of Approved Organisations who build, maintain, and restore the fleet. We are also responsible for delivering the UK government’s General Aviation Strategy (CAP1754) and implementing recent GA specific rule changes, such as Part-ML, to promote the CAA’s vision that the UK should be a great place to fly with a flourishing GA sector. Accountable for the Performance Based Regulatory Oversight of GA Aircraft, approved maintenance organisations, continuing airworthiness management organisations and individuals.

 

 

Core Accountabilities:

  • Deliver outcome focused oversight that applies Performance Based Oversight principles and meets statutory compliance obligations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with and influence Accountable Managers, Senior Post Holders and individual stakeholders throughout the sector to continually improve safety performance, risk and compliance.
  • Work across industry and ensure a high level of regulatory engagement, particularly on future projects, innovation technologies and proposed regulatory changes.
  • Ensure a lead with a flexible and collaborative approach to support the work of colleagues within the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
  • Evaluate, analyse and ensure compliance against safety objectives.
