Requirements of the role

We are looking for a Associate Director Finance & Governance to be based at any of our office locations: London, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, York, Glasgow. At ORR we have adopted hybrid working and are currently expected to work from a workplace location for a minimum of two days per week or 40%.

Corporate Operations leads on Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, Security, Estates, H&S & Organisational changes. The ORR is relatively small, so colleagues working in this directorate have both a hands-on role in daily operations & a strong understanding of how we work as well as a role in setting strategic direction and organisation performance.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is an experienced and qualified finance professional to really make a difference at the Office of Rail and Road.  You will lead the Finance & Procurement team, be a key member the Directorate’s Senior Leadership Team and will have a significant opportunity to set direction, guiding strategic financial decisions and plans across the whole organisation by attending Executive Committee and the Audit and Risk Committee.  You will make a real difference & ensure we deliver efficiently and at pace.

The Associate Director, Finance and Governance is responsible for the management of the finance, procurement and governance of ORR, ensuring that:

  • Clear financial strategies are set through engagement with the organisation;
  • decision-makers have the financial analysis and advice they require;
  • business planning is dynamic and aligned to strategic priorities;
  • governance, risk and audit systems are robust;
  • financial accounts are accurate and timely; and
  • procurement processes deliver value for money and meet business need
