Requirements of the role
We are seeking an experienced Business Planning Manager to design, manage and deliver a highly effective business planning process including a robust system to allocate resources effectively to both projects and business as usual.
The role will require the successful candidate to provide specialist advice, guidance and support on business planning across the organisation. This pivotal role will lead the design, development, and implementation of corporate business planning and budgeting processes to ensure strategic and operational priorities are effectively delivered and resources are optimally allocated
Key Responsibilities:
- Design a new corporate business planning and budgeting process to ensure effective strategic and operational delivery and effective resource planning and allocation.
- Manage the development and implementation of the annual corporate business plan and budget, ensuring that they reflect strategic priorities.
- Pro-actively engage key stakeholders on the business planning process to ensure accountabilities and key milestones are understood and met.
- Monitor and develop clear reporting on progress against the business plan for both internal and external stakeholders, working with the Programmes and Communications team where needed.
- Work closely with the Finance team and Head of Programmes and Planning to prepare realistic annual budgets that reflect business plans and adequate contingency planning.
- Co-ordinate production of business cases and rationale for annual budgets, producing clear and coherent budget papers and recommendations for the Executive Team, Performance and Strategic Planning Committee (PSP) and Board.
- Review monthly Management Accounts for the BSB and assist the Finance team and budget holders with regular reforecasting exercises to ensure that budgets are adhered to.
- Manage the BSB’s procurement responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legislation and good practice, supported by the Head of Programmes and Planning.
