Requirements of the role
Are you early in your data career and looking for a meaningful opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive, mission-driven environment? The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is seeking a junior-level Data Analyst to join our Market Intelligence & Insights (MII) function.
The MII function at the FRC comprises three teams – Economic Analysis, Data Analytics, and Markets and Competition Research – and is a strategic enabling function providing holistic, evidence-led research and analysis to support the FRC’s work, including policy development and implementation. The MII function has adopted a matrix-working approach to deliver its work.
The Role:
This role is designed for early-career professionals or recent graduates with a strong interest in data analytics and is best suited to candidates who are looking to grow within an organisation.
collecting, cleansing and compiling data from different sources in preparation for analysis and team usage
using tools like Excel, Power BI, and SQL to manipulate, analyse and visualise data
regular and ad-hoc data analysis to inform project work and the development of new delivery strategies
presenting data in a clear, concise and tailored manner to meet the needs of the FRC and supporting business teams with high quality information
working collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure data driven decisions are aligned to the FRC mission statement
ensuring that data and evidence are managed safely, securely, to the required standards and policies, and to best advantage in supporting the work of the FRC
quality assurance of the work of other team members
The Person:
Proven data analytical work experience in delivering data analysis in the private or public sector or a degree in a quantitative discipline or other relevant data analyst qualifications
Familiarity with Excel; basic understanding of Power BI, SQL and/or Python is a plus
A genuine interest in data’s role in public policy and regulation
A good understanding of the potential uses and limitations of data – technical and legal/ethical/security – in evidence-based policy making and strategy development
Curiosity and motivation to learn new topics and ways of working
Excellent team player with enthusiasm and energy, able to deliver under tight deadlines
Motivation to learn and grow within the role over time
