Requirements of the role

We have an opportunity for a Desktop and Intune Engineer to join our IT and Operations Team within Corporate Enablers Directorate.

The Desktop and Intune Engineer will be working for the Head of IT Operations and within the Corporate Enablers Directorate. Our CE directorate is collective of five vital functions that provide support to all teams across Ofwat. Consisting of IT, HR, Finance, Procurement and Facilities, our Corporate Enabler teams help to enable Ofwat to be a high performing, great place to be that is effective, efficient and continually improving. They also ensure that we have the right capabilities, tools and culture to deliver for customers, society and the environment.

The Independent Water Commission published their final report on the review of the water sector regulatory system on 21st July 2025. While we are entering into a period of change, Ofwat still has a lot of important work to do. We remain focused on the day job and ensuring that the £104 billion investment package that we have approved delivers the maximum benefits for customers and the environment. Ofwat remains committed to working constructively with the government and supporting outcomes that are in the best interests of customers, communities, and the environment and our focus remains the same: delivering strong, independent economic regulation to deliver our vision of a secure and sustainable water sector, acting in the best interests of customers, communities and the environment.

This role has an important and valuable contribution to enable us to deliver on our goals and regulatory commitments.

The creation of the New Regulator may take up to two years to finalise. Our aim here at Ofwat is to collaborate with the other regulators to create a comprehensive plan for a smooth transition. We will be keeping everyone informed about the developments and arrangements as they become clear.

Job description
The Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Desktop and Intune Engineer to join our IT Operations team. This role is responsible for managing and supporting end-user devices, ensuring seamless operation and security across our desktop estate, and leveraging Microsoft Intune for modern device management.

You will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the team whilst ensuring the desktop provision is suitable, scalable and achieves the highest standards.

This role offers opportunity to utilise technical expertise in Windows environments, endpoint security, and device management as well as working with all other directorates and managing user expectation.

This position plays a key part in fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and positive impact across the organisation. The Desktop and Intune Engineer role is integral to promoting collaboration, maintaining trust within the team, operating both independently and as part of the wider team to deliver strategic objectives and exemplary IT service.
