Head of Corporate Assurance

Requirements of the role

Operating at the pinnacle of the energy sector, Ofgem needs exceptional people to support high-impact programmes of work that keep the industry focused on consumers and excellent service. We are now seeking a Head of Corporate Assurance to provide leadership and direction that will strengthen our governance, risk management and assurance culture across the organisation.

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

This is a permanent opportunity where you will lead a high-profile function that plays a central role in Ofgem’s success. You will work at the highest level with senior leaders across the organisation and help shape a culture of strong governance and accountability. It’s your chance to make a real difference to the energy sector from the inside.

You will have the chance to influence directors and policy owners, challenge practices, and foster compliance across the entire organisation. Whether providing independent, evidence-based reports to ARAC, managing complex conflicts of interest, or engaging with cross-government assurance networks, your contribution will be central to ensuring transparency, accountability, and confidence in Ofgem’s operations.

We’re looking for a confident, inspiring leader with the ability to guide high-performing teams and champion a culture of excellence, inclusion, and innovation. Alongside a formal risk management or business assurance qualification, you’ll be adept at influencing, advising and communicating at the highest level and translating complex technical matters for diverse audiences. With your experience in assurance or risk management, you’ll be perfectly equipped to deliver the culture of performance and accountability that we need to achieve our goals.
