Lawyer (Contact and Assessment Team)

Requirements of the role

This is an exciting opportunity where the successful candidate would be able to make a positive contribution to the work of CAT and wider directorate, in addition to shaping the BSB’s strategic and business plans. This role sits in the Regulatory Enforcement Directorate (ROD) of the BSB and reports to the Head of the Contact and Assessment Team (CAT), and to the Senior Lawyer, with dotted line management.

Key responsibilities for the role are:

• Providing legal advice and support to CAT in relation to individual cases and professional regulation more broadly;

• Holding responsibility for reviewing and progressing a caseload of complex cases;

• Ensure decisions made about cases handled within CAT are consistent, proportionate and comply with the BSB Handbook, guidance, legislation and caselaw;

• Support the Head of CAT Operations in their function, delegating for them where required;

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to contribute to and deliver strategies and projects.
