Senior Case Officer

Financial Conduct Authority

Regulating financial services firms and financial markets in the UK, https://www.fca.org.uk/careers

Requirements of the role

The FCA regulates the conduct of 45,000 firms in the UK to ensure our financial markets are honest, fair and competitive. Follow this link to find out more About the FCA.

The Resolution & Insolvency Department is a specialist department which provides expert support when financial services firms are likely to fail or have failed. What we do is right at the heart of the FCA’s objectives and we aim to reduce the harm arising from firm failure.

We work in a collaborative and exciting environment with excellent opportunities for development and progression. No two days are the same.

What will you be doing?

You will be delivering complex resolution and insolvency cases to minimise harm to consumers arising from firm failure, including where firms hold client money or assets or owe large amounts of redress to consumers. This includes:

Reviewing and questioning financial information and projections, identifying risks and areas of uncertainty, for example working with supervision colleagues to review wind down plans
Working as a team to deliver results on complex resolution cases, in a mix of supervising and supporting roles and taking sole responsibility for an allocation of simpler “business as usual” casework
Contributing to a variety of non-case-work operational workstreams
Engaging with and influencing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver the best outcome for consumers
Partnering with colleagues around the FCA to create and deliver effective strategies for the resolution of failing firms
Analysing complex business models and firm issues, translating these and other complex matters into clear, actionable recommendations for non‑technical audiences and identifying solutions for challenges arising in firm failure scenarios, including options evaluation and contingency planning
