Senior Service Designer

Requirements of the role

Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving towards Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.

We are seeking an additional Senior Service Designer who will act as an expert practitioner in supporting the delivery of government schemes aimed at achieving policy outcomes that contribute to Net Zero. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role, working in close collaboration with user-centred design colleagues and multidisciplinary digital delivery teams. As an influencer and mentor, the senior service designer will also help establish the service design practice within Ofgem, offering guidance, support, and mentorship to more junior designers.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with Product Managers and Service Owners to develop design concepts and oversee their execution, leading projects of varying complexity. You’ll support service design practice, contribute to the Ofgem User-Centred Design (UCD) community, and elevate service design understanding across the organisation. Your tasks include producing and maintaining design documents, guiding the design strategy for services, and ensuring smooth collaboration with cross-functional teams for effective project delivery. Additionally, you’ll streamline UCD processes and facilitate a seamless transition to operational delivery.
