Strategy & Delivery Coordinator – Retail Banking Directorate

Financial Conduct Authority

Regulating financial services firms and financial markets in the UK, https://www.fca.org.uk/careers

Requirements of the role

The retail banking sector performs a vital role in the economy. As a Strategy & Delivery Supervisor in the Retail Banking directorate, your work will impact millions of UK consumers. We supervise the largest and most complex retail banking groups, digital and foreign banks as well as mortgage lenders in the UK. We also set standards and tackle risks/harm across many high-profile topics such as the Cost-of-Living Crisis, Consumer Duty, Access to Cash, Savings Market review, the Provision of Banking Services and more. The directorate is both a very busy and very rewarding place to work.

We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding of the retail banking market to join and help shape the new Retail Banking Strategy and Delivery team in the Market Analysis and Policy (MAP) Department. This is an exciting and important new function that will be working closely with the Director’s office in Retail Banking, the Retail Banking Sector Team as well as with all teams across the Directorate.

What you will be doing

You will be supporting the building of the new Strategy & Delivery function for Retail Banking, working closely with other teams across the Directorate, in particular the Sector Team. You will be supporting the development of strong relationships with relevant stakeholders both within and outside of the Directorate as well as contributing to the wider Directorate, including making recommendations for continuous improvement of our processes.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the wider Directorate through contributing to the development of a coherent and outcomes focused workplan, considering the prioritisation of risk and resulting strategy
  • Supporting the portfolio teams to devise the retail banking and mortgages portfolio strategies and subsequently working together with the Sector Team and others to monitor these strategies and ensure appropriate delivery
  • Working closely with the Retail Banking Director’s office, especially the Executive Assistant
  • Forming judgments on a range of topics and how these fit into the wider strategy
  • Working with the Sector Team to understand key risks facing the sector and implementing horizon scanning into the Directorate’s workplan
  • Supporting the team in feeding into cross-FCA strategic thinking requests and how these impact retail banking
