The UKRN Regulatory Supervisors Forum successfully completes pilot stage and welcomes new Chair

The UKRN Regulatory Supervisors Forum (RSF) has marked a significant milestone in its development, completing its pilot stage successfully. The RSF, which was designed to bring together supervisors from various sectors to discuss key issues, share insights, and foster collaboration, has proven its potential to enhance professional growth and inter-regulatory communication.
UKRN are extremely grateful to colleagues from the Payment Systems Regulator who initiated the setup of the RSF and chaired the initial four meetings.
Since its inception in June 2024, the RSF has provided a platform for those leading supervision teams from across the UKRN regulatory landscape to engage in constructive dialogues, addressing challenges in the roles, policy implementation, and team management/creation. Through a series of dynamic discussions, participants have exchanged valuable strategies and solutions, paving the way for better workplace environments and more efficient operations.
The pilot meetings have garnered positive feedback from attendees. The success of these initial sessions has underscored the importance of providing dedicated spaces for those leading regulatory supervision teams to connect, learn, and grow.
As the RSF prepares for its next phase, a new chair has taken the reins to guide the discussions and ensure the forum’s objectives continue to align with the evolving needs of its members. Shona Barton, Head of Strategy and Operations in Ofcom’s Supervision Team, has stepped into the position, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience and a fresh perspective to the group. Shona is well-placed to lead the RSF into its next chapter, focusing on tackling new topics and continuing the good work of the network so far.
“I am delighted to be chairing the RSF in 2025 and working with colleagues across the regulatory family to share knowledge and drive improvements in regulatory supervision across sectors. We are preparing to cover various topics throughout the year, including approaches to supervision, quality and governance, risk management and organisational management. If you are responsible for regulatory supervisory or relationship management functions at a UKRN member, we would love for you to join us.” – Shona Barton, Head of Strategy and Operations for Ofcom
